Is it conceivable that a model car collection could be considered complete without at least one Mini diecast in it?

Towards the latter end of the 20th Century a group of esteemed Automotive journalists gathered in Las Vegas, Nevada, to consider which car should be awarded the honour of being called the 'Car of the Century'
 
It's probably not much of a surprise that the winner was that mother of modern day motoring the Ford, Model T. What may come as a shock though is that, in a close run race, second across the line was none other that the mighty Mini.
 
Diecast model makers Mini diecast police car by Franklin Mintsuch as  ERTL, Corgi, Kyosho, Maisto and Auto Art, together with most other manufacturers, have all released their own tribute in the form Mini diecast models of varying quality.
 
Perhaps some of the best in terms of precision detailing and collectivity come from The Franklin Mint. 
 
Concentrating production on the 1967 Mini Cooper, various editions have been released in 1:24 scale, which sits in the display cabinet at around 16cm in length.
 
Perhaps rarest amongst the Franklin Mini diecast models is the standard 1967 Mini Cooper.  Released in British Racing Green there were only 1000 issued worldwide.
 
Whilst this is probably the hardest model to locate it is by no means the best detailed.
 
That honour would go to either the Police diecast Mini or the 1967 Mini diecast Rally.
 
Both of these are again based on the 1967 Mini Cooper, with the Police diecast presented in full British Police livery, roof mounted light and siren, opening doors, bonnet and boot and an exceptionally detailed engine.
 
Whereas the Rally Mini diecast, which is based on the car made famous for its exploit's in the Monte Carlo rallies, is red with a white roof and detailed with the rally number 177.  The roof rack carries spare tyres, which are produced in rubber and the front bumper is adorned with a full set of spots.
 
All of these Mini diecast models are extremely collectible so if you come across one be sure to grab hold of it. A diecast car collection, no matter how good it seems just isn't complete without a Mini diecast model in its midst.
